TTA in Michigan

See what Sixth Amendment work is happening in Michigan.

We worked with the Neighborhood Defender Services Detroit (NDS) and a collaborative group from Wayne County's Indigent Defense Services Department (IDSD) to:

  • Develop a qualitative survey to determine potential explanations for the underutilization of experts and investigators
  • Organize and implement an innovative, 8 session training program for assigned counsel on the use of experts and investigators
  • Share resources, recordings and presentation materials from the training with attendees, allowing defense attorneys and investigators in Wayne County to rewatch the training on-demand
  • Work towards increasing the use of experts and investigators by court-appointed counsel in Wayne County, Michigan

TTA Recipient : Michigan State Appellate Defender Office

Type of Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) : Strategic Planning
