Does your jurisdiction need support to ensure 6th Amendment protections?
If you seek expert assistance in strengthening 6th Amendment protections in your jurisdiction, you can apply for strategic planning training and technical assistance (TTA). The Center for Justice Innovation (formerly the Center for Court Innovation) is providing three levels of strategic planning TTA to jurisdictions through the Bureau of Justice Assistance Sixth Amendment Initiative, Justice for All:
1. Intensive Strategic Planning is available for up to 24 months of assistance. It will involve reviewing and assessing all protections found within the Sixth Amendment. 2. On-demand Strategic Planning is available for 12 to 18 months of assistance and will involve support around discrete Sixth Amendment challenges. 3. Limited Assistance TTA will include remote consultations to facilitate brief informational and referral responses.
When applying, interested applicants should collaborate with system stakeholders, notably the courts, the public defense provider, and community. There is one application form to complete for all level types. The type of assistance will be determined based on the application. All applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.
